Free Psychedelic Preparation Pilot

Currently seeking participants to join a free, early-stage psychedelic preparation pilot.

I’m a Usui Reiki practitioner. For anyone unfamiliar with it, Usui Reiki is an energy-healing practice. I also have personal experience with psychedelics, particularly Ayahuasca and Psilocybin.

I’ve come to suspect that psychedelic work can sometimes plateau because we don’t always know exactly what we need to ask for help with. We may go into an experience blind, without an intention, or with something very broad such as “Show me what I need to know.”

My aim is to test whether insights developed through Reiki and a structured exploration of our inner world can help identify what someone specifically needs to work on—and create a more focused intention before a psychedelic experience.

This is an early pilot built around a hypothesis I want to test. I’m not presenting it as scientifically proven.

This pilot may suit you if...

01

You have an upcoming psychedelic experience

You want to develop a specific intention around an emotional barrier, recurring pattern, trauma, relationship pattern, boundaries, a behavioural issue, or something physical, somatic, psychological, spiritual or energetic. The goal is to get more specific than “Show me what I need to know,” or entering the experience without a clear intention.

02

You have already had a psychedelic experience

You want help understanding, organising or integrating what emerged. A lot may have happened while the meaning remains unclear, different insights may seem disconnected, or you may want help seeing the larger pattern.

03

You have been using psychedelics therapeutically but feel you have plateaued

You may have received genuine benefit but feel unsure what to work on next, which pattern matters most, why something keeps recurring, or what intention to bring into the next experience. My working hypothesis is that better internal mapping may help identify the next area of focus.

What the process includes

01

Four Planes discussion

We begin with a structured conversation across four areas: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. Together, these help us build an internal map.

We look for recurring themes, barriers and patterns; connections between things that may initially seem unrelated; and areas that may deserve deeper attention. Within my Reiki framework, the same map also helps me understand the current state of your energetic system.

02

Intention development or integration

Before an upcoming experience: we use the map to develop one or more specific intentions around the areas identified. The aim is to move away from something vague such as “Show me what I need to know” and toward a much clearer focus.

After an experience: we use the same map to organise what emerged, make connections, identify themes and understand what may need further integration.

03

Optional distance Reiki

You may also choose to receive a distance Reiki session. Within my energetic framework, Reiki is a healing modality in its own right and can work in parallel with psychedelic preparation or integration.

This is optional. You do not need to understand Reiki already, and you do not need to hold a particular belief about it to take part in the pilot.

04

Written summary

After the session, I provide a written summary of the key material: major themes, patterns and connections; my practitioner observations; intentions we developed; and possible areas for integration.

These conversations can become complicated and cover many connected issues. Having a written record makes it easier to return to what we found later.

05

Follow-up

A few weeks later, I will follow up to ask what happened, whether the intentions were useful, what changed and what did not, which parts of the mapping felt accurate and which did not, and what was useful or unhelpful.

Your honest feedback is an important part of testing this pilot.

What participation involves

Free for accepted participants

The complete pilot process is free for accepted participants.

In return, I ask for honest and detailed private feedback.

Positive feedback and public testimonials are not required. You do not owe me a positive review, testimonial or public promotion.

Remote and international

Sessions are remote and available internationally. Calls can be audio or video, according to your preference.

Submitting an application does not guarantee a place.

Privacy choices

You can use a nickname or a pseudonym, use an alias email address, and avoid sharing anything you would prefer to keep private.

If you want a higher degree of privacy, we can conduct the call through SimpleX Chat, which does not require a mobile phone number to create an account. These choices can reduce the personal information you share, but they do not guarantee absolute anonymity.

No psychedelic substances are supplied, sourced or administered, and no medical advice will be given during the session.

Example from the first pilot session

Shared with permission. Personal details have been kept general.

Here is what actually happened with the first person I tried this process with. These are that participant’s reported results, not proof that everyone will have the same result.

What we mapped beforehand

In our private mapping conversation, we identified themes related to the participant’s upbringing involving expression, boundaries, trust, grief, safety and grounding, control, and perfectionism.

The participant knew many of these as individual experiences, but had not necessarily seen how they formed a broader connected pattern. Drawing on my experience with psychedelic work, my Reiki practice and the Four Planes framework, I helped connect things they had previously viewed as separate. These links were my practitioner observations and interpretations, not medical findings.

The intentions we developed

These were the participant’s actual intention themes coming out of the preparation process. The chakra framing was specific to this mapping, not a general interpretation for everyone.

  1. Clearing the throat chakra

Being able to express my emotions.

  2. Developing greater connection with the body

Being able to recognise what my body is telling me and which emotions may need expression.

  3. Working with trauma associated with the root chakra

Particularly material connected, in the participant’s own framework, with grounding, digestion and nervous-system experiences.

  4. Rebalancing and releasing grief, sadness and loneliness

Releasing feelings associated with the past.

What happened after the psychedelic session

  1. Physical relief

The participant reported relief from chronic right-side sciatica and lower-body tightness. They described the relief as feeling similar to having received a massage. They also reported that exercising became easier and that they experienced less pain in the following days.

  2. An interesting correspondence with the earlier mapping

The participant reported that the relief was concentrated on the right side of the body. During our earlier conversation, I had associated that side—within my energetic interpretation—with a masculine influence during the participant’s youth.

They had described an emotionally unstable upbringing in which emotional expression was discouraged. I found the correspondence interesting because it lined up with themes we had mapped before the psychedelic experience. I do not take that correspondence as proof that one caused the other.

  3. Boundaries and decisions

The participant reported feeling calmer when making decisions that might disappoint someone else. This lined up with the boundary themes we had identified beforehand.

  4. Increased body awareness

The participant reported an ongoing increase in body and somatic awareness that had not previously been present.

Other observations

The participant also reported a strong intuitive shift and a release of anger.

Within my energetic framework, I interpreted the intuitive shift as potentially connected with the crown chakra. In my Reiki interpretation, the anger may relate to repressed feeling and throat-chakra themes, and possibly root-chakra themes. These are practitioner interpretations rather than objective physiological findings.

What I think may be happening

I think that by mapping our internal patterns in much more detail, we may be able to create much more specific intentions for psychedelic experiences.

The kinds of maps I have developed through my Reiki practice may help us see what is actually connected, where a recurring pattern may come from, which issue is worth working on next, and what a useful psychedelic intention could be. When we know ourselves more clearly, we can ask more specific questions of the psychedelic experience.

My own view is that psychedelic plant medicines can act as teachers, or “plant masters.” You do not have to share that perspective to take part. From my perspective, knowing ourselves more clearly allows us to consciously ask these plant teachers for help with something much more specific.

The plateau problem

People can make genuine progress with psychedelics or other healing methods and still reach a point where they do not know what to work on next. Someone may know they are dealing with anxiety, grief, repeating relationship patterns, body tension, difficulty setting boundaries or suppressed emotion without seeing how those things connect.

If we can map the pattern first, we may be able to form a more precise intention. That is what this pilot is testing.

The first result is interesting, but the sample is tiny. It is genuinely early days, and I am testing an idea rather than claiming it has been proven. Still, I think I may be onto something—and I want to test it with more people.
